To help co-sleepers stay healthy, Dr. Joëlle Adrien, Director of Research at Inserm, suggests a few simple solutions. They can choose a larger bed, or even twin beds. Using two duvets is also a good solution. For more complex cases such as chronic snoring, temperature incompatibility, or time incompatibility, it's best to sleep in separate rooms.
And what about children and animals?
For many reasons, children share their bed with their pet or another person. This can be due to traditions, nighttime fears, a child's request when a parent is absent, or simply a whim. 25% of French people with a child sleep with them. Nearly two out of three say they sleep in the same bed as their little one. 17% of those surveyed sleep with their child every night, while 68% do so only occasionally.
