Arnaldo was dead before the truth came out.
He didn't take it with him.
One day, Gabriel came home alone. He stood in that room and realized something he could no longer ignore: he had trusted that man. He had loved him. He called him grandfather.
All that remained was anger.
Neither fear. Nor confusion.
Simply anger.
Before leaving, he took one last look around the yard. The shed was still closed. He gazed at the disturbed earth and imagined Melissa – fifteen years old, alive, dreaming of a better future – completely unaware of the danger that already lurked in her home.
"We have found you," he murmured.
