Step 4: Stir in the Nuts
Gently fold in the chopped walnuts until evenly distributed. Each cookie should contain a little nutty surprise, adding warmth and texture to every bite.
While walnuts are traditional, their slightly bitter edge beautifully balances the buttery sweetness.
Step 5: Shape the Cookies
Roll the dough into small balls about 2.5 cm (1 inch) in diameter. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 5 cm (2 inches) apart.
There’s no need to flatten them—their rounded, rustic shape is part of their old-fashioned charm.
