You squeeze a lemon, collect the juice… and the seeds almost always end up in the bin. Yet, these little seeds have more than one trick up their sleeve. They can become true everyday allies, from the kitchen to the balcony, thanks to simple, old-fashioned techniques—in the best sense of the word. The best part? You don't need to be a gardening expert or a DIY enthusiast: a few minutes are all it takes to give them a zero-waste second life.
Growing a lemon tree from seeds
This is the most rewarding trick. Rinse the seeds, carefully remove all traces of pulp, then place them in a slightly damp (but not soggy) paper towel. Slide the towel into a sealed container and keep it warm for one to two weeks. As soon as a small root appears, plant them in a pot with light potting soil and keep the soil slightly moist. Even if fruit production isn't guaranteed, the lemon tree makes a beautiful decorative indoor tree.
